Lydia entered into rest on December 12, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Born in El Paso, Texas, she was a long-time resident of San Jose. She earned a nursing diploma from the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso, Texas in 1964 and became a registered nurse in 1965. After moving to California, she held nursing positions at various San Jose area hospitals, including Good Samaritan, Park Alameda, and San Jose Medical Group. In 1985, she joined IBM, where she worked as an Occupational Health Nurse for nearly 10 years.
Her proudest achievements were being a nurse and raising a loving family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading true crime novels and cruising the Caribbean.
She is survived by her children, Mark Charles (Jean) of San Ramon and Theresa Katharine Cefalu (Joe) of Gilroy, and two wonderful grandchildren, Zachary and Cassandra Cefalu.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chuck, her parents, and a brother, she leaves behind a sister, Martha Salas of El Paso, Texas.
Friends are invited to attend a chapel service on Tuesday, December 20 at 11 am at Darling-Fischer Campbell Memorial Chapel, 231 E. Campbell Avenue. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm at Los Gatos Memorial Park, 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road.
