Glenda Cresap passed away peacefully on July 1, 2022 with her family and friends by her side. She left us far too soon but managed to make a huge impact on this world. She is survived by her husband, daughter, three sisters, stepfather and numerous nieces and nephews. As a Navy brat, she began her life living in many interesting locations including Hawaii and Japan where she had so much fun that shaped the rest of her life. She moved to San Jose in 1971 to attend San Jose State University. She married later that year and became a young, full time Mom. While her daughter was in jr high, she went back to finish her BA degree in Social Work, specializing in Gerontology, her life’s passion thanks to her close relationship with her grandma. At a PTA meeting, the Lord introduced Glenda to Heart of the Valley, Services for Seniors, a young up and coming nonprofit with the goal of keeping senior citizens living independently in their homes. She served as the Executive Director there for 31 years developing it into a well-respected, innovative and successful nonprofit agency. Glenda became the authority on seniors in the Santa Clara Valley.
She was a loving, caring person, and she was loved in return by all who knew her. Giving was her joy and passion. She lived her life in the service of others. She had a close personal relationship with God and lived her life accordingly. She loved spending time with her family and her cats. She was a huge movie buff who couldn’t resist chocolate. She was known for her fabulous cooking and hospitality. No one could make better chocolate chip cookies than her.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider donating to Heart of the Valley in Glenda’s honor, which can be mailed to P.O. Box 418, Santa Clara, CA 95052 or through the HOV donation page at https://www.servicesforseniors.org/donate.
