It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the matriarch of our family. On Oct. 11, 2018, Freddie Jo Fortier was called home to be with the Lord after a valiant 15 year battle with cancer. Freddie Jo Fortier was born in Hollister CA. on Sept. 26, 1938. Preceded in death by her parents, Opal & Dee Noonkester, loving husband Robert Fortier, and cherished son Roger Fortier. Freddie Jo is survived by her loving brothers Jerry & Thurl Noonkester, and her devoted children, Susan & Keith Kraten, and Kim & Keith Wilson. She was a loving grandmother to 7 grandchildren. Krystle Potts, Cole & Kyle Kraten, Gillian & Trevor Klohr, and Parker & Allison Wilson.
Raised Campbell CA., she was a graduate of Campbell High School. Freddie Jo’s parents Opal & Dee were founding members of the Campbell Church of Christ, where over a long period of years, Freddie held several positions providing meals, and acting as the church school secretary. Freddie Jo and her husband Robert settled and raised their family in San Jose CA.
She was a special person who always had a kind word for everyone she met. Loving, non-judgmental, and remarkably open minded and accepting of all the wonderful diversity that life has to offer. Through her long and difficult struggle with this terrible disease, she rarely complained. She taught us all what it means to fight with grace and dignity. She was the light of our family, and cherished by so many neighbors and friends who came to think of her as a member of their own families. We will miss her dearly, but her light will always live in our hearts.
