Daniel William Coleman passed away suddenly from natural causes on May 20, 2023 in San Jose, California. Daniel was born to Natalie and William Coleman on July 12, 1982 in Fresno, California. His sister Annie was welcomed into the family in 1985.
There will be a rosary and small social gathering for Daniel on Monday June 5, 2023 from 5 to 7 PM at the Darling and Fischer Funeral Home at 231 E. Campbell Avenue, Campbell, CA. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church at 15333 Woodard Road, San Jose, CA at 10 AM on June 6, 2023. Daniel will be buried on June 7, 2023 at 11 AM at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos, CA.
Daniel, grew up in Fresno California. He attended school in the Clovis Unified School District starting at Fort Washington Elementary School, continuing to Kastner Middle School and finally graduating from Clovis West High School in 2000. He was an excellent student throughout his school years. Daniel played various sports and enjoyed many lifelong friendships with his cousins and friends. After graduating from high school Daniel attended and graduated in 2007 from the University of California at Davis with a Biology degree with an emphasis in neurobiology, physiology and behavior. He later attended Alliant International University from which he received a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology in 2016.
He worked at Catholic Charities of Santa Clara for the last 10 years of his life where he was a valued member of the community. Daniel loved doing "God's Work". He loved his colleagues and the Washington United Youth Center. At the time of his death he was a social services director at the Washington United Youth Center. Daniel worked tirelessly to help others. He said that he felt he was put on this earth to make others feel good about themselves.
Daniel enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and exercise. He was a brilliant man. He loved reading, learning, talking about many subjects and collaborating to solve problems. He was an excellent speaker. He said that his gifts of metaphors and communication came from his Irish ancestry.
In 2007, Daniel and his girlfriend and partner, Danielle Tomakin, had their son, Aidan Coleman. He was and remains their shining star. Aidan is a beautiful, intelligent and loving son. He is an excellent student receiving a Catholic Education through eighth grade at Saint Francis Cabrini Catholic School and continuing at Bellarmine College Preparatory. Daniel and Danielle remained a couple for 10 years. Thereafter they coparented Aidan together and became loving friends.
Daniel will be forever loved and missed by: his precious son Aidan Coleman and his mother Danielle Tomakin; his parents, Natalie and William Coleman: his sister Dr. Annie Duncan and her husband Matt and their son Luke; his aunts and uncles, Vida and Tim Steele and their children Andy and his wife Jessica and their children Laura and Allie, Mary and Jeff Swisher and their children Lee and Jeffrey and his wife Darcy Swisher and their children Joe and Daniel; Joe O’Neill and Kristy and his children Morgan and Christopher and his wife Brielle; Maria Dunn and her husband Ron; Sally Mitchell; his cousins Brian O’Neill and his wife Leslie and their children, Heather O’Neill and her children, Patrick O’Neill and his wife Jen and their children, Christine Hohl and her husband Jake and their children; and by Jennifer and Chris Cotran and their children Jordan, Maya and Elina and Tiffany and Mike Depiro and their children Riley and Emmie, and by his many friends, his coworkers, the Washington United Youth Center community as well as Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County.
