Christine Drake Reid

December 25, 1939 ~ April 21, 2018 (age 78)

Christine Drake Reid, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 surrounded by her husband and family. Christine enjoyed life to the fullest; she brightened the lives of friends and family through her generosity, interests, and stories of her adventures. 

Christine was born in Doylestown, PA, attended early grade school in one room school houses, graduating from Central Bucks High School in Bucks County, PA.  She continued onto Ursinus College, graduating in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  During her time at Ursinus she was a member of Kappa Delta Kappa and Pi Nu Epsilon and remained active as an alumnus.

Christine had a successful 30 year career with the State of New Jersey as an Information Systems Administrator.  Christine loved to travel and explore new places; her dedication to the outdoors was evident in her passion for skiing and sailing all over the globe.  Christine enjoyed these activities with her many friends from the Princeton and Golden Gate Top of the Hill Gang Ski Clubs, South Bay Yacht Club, Hoofers Walking Club (Los Gatos) and as Treasurer of the South Bay Historic Restoration Foundation.

Christine is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, James W. Reid of Campbell, her cousins Grace Muscarella, and Grace's children Lawrence and Daphne Muscarella of the Philadelphia area.  She is preceded in death by her mother Dorothy S. Plichta (Drake), father Newton A. Freed and stepfather Frank B. Plichta. Christine gave generously to those she loved and remained dedicated to her family and friends.

'Celebration of Life' events are being planned for the San Jose (CA) and Pt. Pleasant (PA) areas, and details will be made available via the Darling and Fischer web site.  In lieu of flowers, donations to leukemia research funds such as the Leukemia Research Foundation would be welcome.  She was also a supporter of the Friends of the Delaware Canal.
