Ralph Christian RasmussenJuly 15, 1930 ~ August 2, 2017 (age 87)
Born July 15, 1930 in Viborg, SD to Carl Rasmussen and Clara Hansen, Ralph was the second of three children. He passed away at home with his devoted wife by his side on August 2nd after a heroic battle of non-Hodgkins lymphoma for nearly four decades.
Ralph is survived by his wife of forty years, Glenda, children Steven (Dixie), Gregory (Julie), Lisa (Jim Micheletti,), Michael (June), Jeffrey (Nicole), and Matthew (Angela) Rasmussen, grandchildren, Kristin, Sophia, Joseph, John, Tara and Bobby and a soon-to-be-born great-grand child.
He served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War and received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He moved to the Bay Area where he worked for Fairchild followed by a 35-year career with Hewlett Packard. He retired at the age of 73. He spent time during retirement traveling, boating, and most of all, being with his family. He sang tenor in St Lucy’s Church choir. He loved riding his Harley motorcycle and stopped riding at the age of 85. He had a great sense of humor, loved classical music and was very patriotic. He was an avid reader and could discuss any topic brought before him. He lives on in the inner strength and care for others he instilled by his example.
Funeral and Celebration of Life will be held at Santa Teresa Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19. His final resting place will be Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, CA.
